HC Brixton

The UK tour is now over – an incredible series of gigs, we’re still trying to take the whole thing in. Here’s a few kind words written by people who came to the final shows in London.

A gig that reminded us that we should cherish Hot Chip while they’re still around.” Evening Standard

A triumphant homecoming for the best dance act of their generation.” Gigwise

At Brixton Academy, Hot Chip cemented their position as one of Britain’s greatest electronic pop groups in a generation, on record and in the live setting.” The Line of Best Fit

When they are firing on all cylinders, the results are thrilling and incredibly hard for anyone to top.” Music OMH

Hot Chip reeled out a selection of hits that reminded you of just how long they’ve been at their musical peak.” Ransom Note

When the songs are riddled with grooves as infectious as this, you’ll be grinning, embracing the stranger next to you and dancing too hard to care.” London In Stereo

In case you missed it last week, the deluxe version of Why Make Sense? is available now, as is the standalone Dancing In The Dark EP.

Dancing In The Dark & Deluxe LP News

Hot Chip have announced a brand new four track EP – ‘Dancing In the Dark’ – due for release on Domino on 23rd October 2015. The EP opens up with the band’s fully psychedelic seven minute version of the Springsteen classic, which they have performed live during triumphant headline sets at Glastonbury, Green Man and other festivals over the summer. The EP also features a reworking of ‘Cry For You’ taken from their critically acclaimed recent album, ‘Why Make Sense?’

Both tracks were recorded by the seven piece live band, which includes drummer Sarah Jones and multi-instrumentalist Rob Smoughton, at the legendary RAK Studios in London and mixed by David Wrench. Also included on the EP are remixes of the single ‘Huarache Lights’ by Soulwax and A/Jus/Ted.

The video for ‘Dancing In the Dark’ has been directed by Kieran Evans. All live footage in the video was recorded this summer on Super 8 at Webster Hall in New York City – watch closely for cameos from David Byrne and Sinkane who joined the band onstage for this song.

If you’re a UK resident (or know how to work these things), the whole show is available on the BBC iPlayer. If not, you can still enjoy Need You Now via YouTube.
